Second Saturday of the month 'Get Together' at Lollywood Café

If it's the second Saturday of the month it must mean a trip, in your modern or classic car, to have a great coffee, freshly made sandwich, panini or wrap, cake or more at Lollywood Café

on the Fairclough Hall Farm, Halls Green.

It has been said that this establishment is the best small café in the whole of Halls Green!

This informal meet starts at 10am and usually lasts for about 2 hours. Come and go as you wish. Please note that May's 'Second Saturday' is the date of the Treasure Hunt, kindly organised by Craig Johnson    and the next 'Second Saturday', in June, is the date of the Transport Picnic.

Normal service will be resumed after that.

Our Transport Picnic 2024

The Picnic Committee are working in the background to produce the eagerly awaited

'Event of the Year'.

Extra flyers depicting the 2024 artwork shown below, and now including a QR code

(courtesy of Simon Ansell) are being printed for distribution and display to the world. The posters will be available at all our meetings leading up to Saturday, 8th June. QR codes are apparently used by 'young people' to save the poster details to their phones. These QR code versions will be useful as fixed displays, in member's cars or on notice boards for example, the QR code negates the need to give the actual paper flyer away, although they may become collector's items in years to come.

On Saturday, 1st June Hitchin's Market Square is booked to promote our Picnic.

This participatory and ephemeral experience is one of the major annual events in the Square.

King Henry III would have been well chuffed to know that, when he granted Hitchin's first charter to hold a fair in 1221, the LGCCVCC would use the Square to hold a small car show.

As last year, members will be asked to consider bringing their cars to display to the general public.

Details of times, access and space limitations will follow closer to the date.
